Rain, rain, GO AWAY!

This morning started out like normal. We thought it was raining when we woke up but never looked out the window. When we opened the garage door, both of us were a little shocked that it was not. The "rain" we were hearing was coming from the sprinklers. I was kind of happy about that because mostly, I am not a fan of being out in the rain. It just seemed a little cloudy.

Unfortunately, when I crossed the county line, the rain started pouring. Any guesses where my umbrella was? Yep, at work. I managed to climb to the back of my car (which I'm sure was entertaining in it's own right) in search of something I could use to make it in without looking like a drowned rat. Luckily, Lightning McQueen saved me...sort of. I found K's umbrella in the back so I used that but what I didn't realize was that it truly was kid size. My arms got wet and there were some jokes made throughout the day. It WAS kind of funny. It may be hard to see but  a lot of rain came down in a short time!

I'm thankful that Mondays are not our typically busy days anymore. Since we made the switch to the Tues/Thurs karate class, Mondays are not nearly as hectic.  I had told K earlier that we could hit the pool after school. That one kind of came back to bite me, but thankfully with no meltdown. There was thunder rumbling so we opted to hang out indoors this afternoon.

You had to know I would talk about food at some point. This was dinner (pics below). There are three things here: our normal zucchini bites (the all white ones with parm cheese), then two new things...zucchini pizza bites and zucchini pizza boats. The plan originally was just to make the boats (long, skinny ones) but we changed it up a little. K gave it 2 thumbs up and I liked it too.

Recipe:
Zucchini - either cut lengthwise for 'boats' or cut in 1/4 inch circles for 'bites'.
Olive oil
Pizza sauce
Pepperoni
Mozzarella cheese

(spread it on for the 'boats', stack it all together in that order for the bites).
Bake at 400 for 20 mins or so.

Yes, we use paper plates pretty often...no judging, lol. I hate dirty dishes!

It was a pretty low key night. At school, it was movie day with the church. K was excited to have watched Shrek. I guess that excitement, plus playing outside with friends and dodging raindrops, plus a full tummy lead to the next picture. He was out before we finished reading.

I don't ever think I will get tired of sleepy kiddo pictures. There will be more of these...
