As you'll start to realize the more you read these posts, we talk about a lot of things more than one time. Sometimes it's repetitive by the day/week/etc.
There is a house on the corner right before we get to K's school each day who has new-ish occupants. If I had to guess are in their late 70s. They have installed a shed/barn and planted a pretty good size garden in the back. I'm going to get a pic of that at some point. K first noticed the garden when the tiller was out a while back. We talked about them getting their garden ready. A while later we could tell things were starting to grow, and just about every day for the last few weeks, as soon as we turn into his school's parking lot, K comments on how much the garden is growing.
Yesterday morning, the couple was outside looking at their garden. As usual, on our way in K said it was looking good and he wanted to tell them that. So, I said sure. We walked over and made their day I think. Ms June and Mr Jim, as we have come to know, were so impressed that K noticed their garden. Ms June asked if he liked squash and cucumbers. K's response was, 'I LOVE those!" Ms June told him that she would leave him some hanging on the fence for him today.
This morning when we got to school he wanted to go see if she had left anything. I felt sort of bad because there was nothing there and I thought maybe she forgot. Turns out she was bent over in the garden picking some things for him and we just didn't see her! She came over waving a squash and cucumber. Then she offered to hold onto it until this afternoon when I came back to pick him up. This afternoon, before I even got K's classroom door open he said 'Let's go see if she...what's her name again?....Oh yeah, let's go see if Ms June left my bag". So we did, and there was a bag hanging on the fence. He was so excited. They were outside so we talked for a minute. K thought he would get a squash and a cucumber. He was excited to have two bags and said "wow, that's a LOT of veggies!"
The project for tomorrow will be some sort of thank you note. :)
Counting his veggies.

Posing with my flowers. Ms June has zinnias planted on the side of her garden and I guess since I mentioned how pretty they were, she gave us some of those too. Brightens up the place a little. She said they were very easy to grow so I might try some of those sometime because they really are pretty!

FYI - Zinnias are SUPER EASY! I highly suggest you try planing some next summer!
